Filesharing News: Eminem Sues Apple

The popular white rapper Marshall Mathers, better known to his fans as Eminem, has gained headlines again by accusing the giant technology company “Apple rotten to the core”. He is suing the company who runs the popular music downloading website Apple Itunes, for allowing unauthorized downloads of his music from their site. Copyright issues have come up over and over again with websites using peer to peer file sharing to allow music, movie and other file downloading, however they usually are not directed at the Apple company. Musicians stand to lose thousands and thousands of dollars when there music is illegally downloaded through sharing programs over the Internet.

Apple Infringes Copyright

“Apple rotten to the core” is the slogan that has come out of one of Eminem’s latest publicity stunts. Marshall Mathers III is a rap artist who records under the name Eminem and is also known as Slim Shady is known for the controversy that follows him and he has had his own share of legal battles. This latest one involves accusations from Eminem that the giant company Apple who operates Apple Itunes, perhaps one of the most popular and well known music downloading websites, has allowed users to illegally download his music. He claims that Apple were breaching copyright laws and the contractual agreements that were in place did not allow for Apple to sell his songs. This could potentially be a multi-million dollar case.
