Problems installing XP after installing Win7?

I had recently installed Windows7 on my new laptop and now i want to put XP Pro x64 back on. Every time i boot from CD and begin to install xp i get the BSOD before i get to the partition selection.

has anyone else had this problem? i know it’s not the XP cd.. I just installed it on my PC no more than a few days ago

    i had the same problem I used a win98 cd to delete the partition and format the hard drive then i removed the 98 cd and booted with the xp cd and then it did install

    Did the laptop come with XP? Because if it’s brand new and shipped with Vista, XP may not support the hardware.
